How Safe Is A GPU Mining Rig?
People think that because you’ve got this machine which has got all of these computer components and it’s running away 24 hours a day, it might be unsafe.
If you boil it all down, our mining rigs are just posh computers, no different to if you buy a new desktop computer for your home. Understandably we know they are using constant electricity and can get a little bit warm, but it’s no different to leaving your computer running 24/7 at home.
The components used in our rigs can be found in any type of domestic computer environment. Yes the rigs look different to typical computers but they are designed to increase airflow and actually keep cooler than components do within domestic computer set-ups.
Effectively we assemble components which are from internationally branded and recognised companies, so they have all been through rigorous testing. Our expert team are also PAT certified so we always ensure every rig leaving our site has been PAT tested and signed off by our technicians.
Regarding the electricity, we actually run less electric through our equipment than is done in domestic computer environments. One of the top end GPUs that we use in our equipment, when used for computer gaming, GPUs will used upwards of 200 Watts and run at over 85 degrees Celsius. Our machines typically use around 160 Watts per GPU and run around 65-70 degrees Celsius.
Understandably with our rigs having open frames, they do have exposed fans so we would encourage people to keep them out of reach of children and pets. But the components themselves carry no intrinsic danger. You won’t get an electric shock by touching the metal frame, nor will touching any of the individual components within the rig itself.
There are no specific environments to keep mining rigs. Anywhere where you would keep a normal computer can house your mining rigs. You just need to make sure the rigs are housed in a dry and relatively dust free environments. Along with this making sure the rigs have enough air volume is vital, so stuffing it in the corner of a cupboard wouldn’t be advised.
Ultimately our equipment is manufactured here in the UK by our team of PAT tested technicians. It’s comprised of premium certified components which have all been rigorously tested. Plus you get our team of full time technicians for any issues you may ever have with the rigs.
